“Is it easy to learn to speak Italian for beginners?” “What can I do to speak Italian?” “How can I speak Italian?” These are some of the questions I hear all the time from beginners starting to approach Italian.
You probably recognize yourself in these questions. If you haven’t asked them out loud, you’re surely thought about them, at least once.
The truth is that “easy” is a vague concept and the only thing to do if you want to start speaking Italian is…
…starting to speak.
It sounds way too obvious and simplistic, but every long journey starts with a small step and, if you don’t begin now, you will find yourself one year from now still in your loop of thoughts.
So, what can you do to begin to speak if you’re a beginner and you feel shy and insecure?
The best thing to do, when you don’t have anyone around you to speak, is to listen and repeat. This is called shadowing technique. You can find a detailed guide on how to use it here and see the amazing benefits that it will bring you. It’s the same technique I use in my speaking course for beginners and which I personally use to build up my confidence in any foreign language.
Then, when you get more comfortable with listening and repeating, you can start to practice how to asnwer specific questions.
So, here below you have an exercise that will help you practice how to answer some questions related to your job.
You’re going to listen to some questions first, then you will have some time to think about your answers. Finally, you will hear my personal answers to those questions.
