What if you meet someone new in Italy and you want to ask them where are you from in Italian?
If you remember my previous lesson about how to say how are you, you surely remember about the politeness form.
That’s it. No matter what you say, if you’re addressing someone, register is not an option.
This is especially true when you meet someone new and want to start a conversation with them. Using the right register, literally saves you from embarrassment.
So, imagine this scenario:
You’re in Italy, taking your first steps to make new friends. You’ve just met someone and you want to ask them where are you from in Italian.
What can you do?
First of all, you need to know how to talk to them, based on how they said hello to you.
After that, you have a few options to choose from to ask them where are you from in Italian.
Which one are you going with?
Are you choosing di dove sei?, da dove vieni? or some other option?
Don’t forget that you also have to be ready to answer that question. How do you do that?
Watch the video below and see how you can ask and answer where are you from in Italian.
